We often specify towards the bottom of your Discharge Instructions when we would like an update on your pet's condition but you email us beforehand if needed.
Please let us know what medications and treatments your pet is receiving and any response or effects
RECHECK EXAMS
Many cases in dermatology require follow up care and we try to book the recheck exam before you leave the clinic but if it has been a while since we saw you please email us with your name and your pet's name and an update on their condition. Please include a phone number where we can reach you during the day. Our email address is towards the bottom of your discharge instructions.
HOW DO I REFILL MY PET'S MEDICATIONS. There are a number of options but start a week before you need the refill.
Email us before you run out. Please specify the medication in detail with name and size and how often you have been giving / using it. It is helpful to give us an update on your pet's progress in case we need to adjust something. We will email you when it is ready for collection. We are usually in the office 9 am until 4 pm weekdays and one Saturday a month from 10 am until 2 pm.
You can ask your local veterinarian if they are willing to refill them for you. We can update them but vets are not pharmacists so we cannot order them to dispense medications to you. Vets cannot dispense prescription medications for animals they have not examined in the last 12 months.
If you prefer to have them shipped to you, many of the medications we use are available on our Vetsource Online Store.
You may obtain medications we prescribe anywhere you choose. If you ask we can provide you a written script or will send it to the pharmacy of your choice if you provide us their email or fax number. Check the price as it can vary for pets and prescriptions are not returnable. Changes in prescribing rules for humans have been causing confusion even though they do not apply to veterinarians. We do not phone scripts into pharmacies or talk to them on the phone.
Some clients use Costco. You do not need to be a member to use their pharmacy but we have had a lot of problems with them recently. We can fax them a script if you ask us but take no further part in the transaction.
Please do not enter our details to online pharmacies as we often do not receive them reliably and they often contain errors which are difficult to correct and the time delay annoys everyone. Again we do not talk to them on the phone.
